DIY Galvanized Pipe Wall Rack

DIY’s are all over Pinterest and YouTube right now. Especially the more industrial look. It’s super inexpensive just as our DIY black pipe light fixture, you can put it together yourself and it doesn’t take all your day!
Storage. Storage. Storage. Everyone keeps talking about how important storage is and I agree. If you’ve always needed more storage, whether it be in your living room, kitchen, bedroom, or you have some extra galvanized pipe nipples lying around, you’ve come to the right place. Go ahead, read through and you will thank me for a long time. You can use the rack to hang frying pans, clothes, towels or whatever you dont have storage for.

Step One: Measurements
Before you go out and buy galvanized pipes, galvanized pipe nipples, and other accessories, take a look at the wall where you want to put the rack. Start with measuring the desired width of the wall rack. This will determine the length of the pipes to purchase.

Step Two: Materials
Depending on how many racks you want to make, you’ll have to adjust this accordingly. But for one, you’ll need: plastic anchors, wood screws, S hooks, galvanized steel pipe, galvanized pipe nipple, galvanized floor flange and galvanized 90 degree elbow.

Step Three: Pre-assemble
The best thing about this rack is that it is very easy to assemble. You can simply visualize the wall and assemble the rack before even putting it on the wall. All you’ll have to do next is ask someone to assist you in holding the rack up while you screw it in.

Step Four: Mount it to the Wall
Now that your rack is ready, it must be mounted properly. Pre-drill pilot holes for each of the screws, and use a drill but just a tiny bit smaller than the screw size. Hold the rack over the pilot holes and screw the rack to the wall. Voila! It’ll take you just an hour or so especially if you already have all the supplies at home.

Step Five: Hang them up
If you’re forgetful and didn’t remember to put the hooks in, well, no worries. This is the exact reason we picked S hooks. They’re very convenient and you won’t have to dismantle your entire project just to put those in. Your rack is ready and now you can hang your pots and pans easily. It makes your kitchen looks organized, and is also aesthetically pleasing.

This is an incredibly easy do it yourself project that you can customize as much as you want. You can paint over the pipes to match your décor, or you can alter the length of the pipes, size of the nipples, the type of hooks you use, and everything just to go with what you have in mind.
